The operation or process of changing the condition or characteristics of land so that improved utilization can be achieved. This may be accomplished by various means such as irrigation of arid land, application of biosolids, drainage of swamp or waterlogged land, protection from flood menace of land constantly subject to overflow.

Allegheny Enterprises to clean up Cameron County abandoned mine

Allegheny Enterprises Inc. will soon begin cleaning up nearly 300 acres of abandoned mine lands in Cameron County after the state Department of Environmental Protection issued a permit Friday to allow the mining company to start reclamation efforts.

UPDATED: Endeavour at ISS, now ready for work

NASA announced yesterday that the Space Shuttle Endeavour arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) at 5:01pm EST just above China. Its doors were opened at 7:16pm, allowing the two crews to exchange greetings and pause for a hair-up photo op. NASA reported the crew was awakened Sunday morning at 8:25am to a song by The Rolling Stones - Start Me Up.

They used a mixture of fertilizers on the deciduous and coniferous trees. Overall, the scientists wanted to see what conditions were required to successfully grow trees in tailings sand from the oilsands company, Syncrude Canada. One of many concerns about the oilsands is the deforestation of boreal forest and what can be done to regrow trees.
